Atara Estes is a mother, trauma survivor, Evangelist in training, and a visionary leader who has transformed her pain into purpose. With a heart rooted in service and a faith-forward mission, Atara is a trailblazer in community health, holistic wellness, and social justice. Her legacy is driven by a commitment to advocate for, equip, and elevate survivors, Community Health Workers (CHWs), and everyday people navigating their healing journey.
She currently serves as Senior CHW Strategist at St. Louis Integrated Health Network (IHN) and also represents nationally as the inaugural Past President of the Community Health Workers Association of Missouri (CHWAM), now serving as an Advisor advocating for systemic change that protects, funds, and elevates CHWs. Founder and past Board of Leaders of the STL CHW Coalition. Her national reach extends to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Community Health Workers (NACHW) where she serves as:

This summer, Atara joins National Community Health Worker (CHW) Awareness Week to spotlight the role and resilience of CHWs across the U.S. — a movement created and led by NACHW since 2023.
On July 23, 2025, Congressman Raul Ruiz and Senator Ron Wyden introduced a Congressional Resolution formally recognizing August 25–29, 2025, as CHW Awareness Week. This resolution celebrates the essential role CHWs play in advancing public health and health equity.
Organizations across the nation will host events, workshops, and awareness campaigns. Use and share the official Social Toolkit to raise awareness and honor this diverse, life-saving workforce.
