On July 23, 2025, Congressman Raul Ruiz and Senator Ron Wyden introduced a Congressional Resolution formally recognizing August 25–29, 2025, as CHW Awareness Week. This resolution celebrates the essential role CHWs play in advancing public health and health equity.
Organizations across the nation will host events, workshops, and awareness campaigns. Use and share the official Social Toolkit to raise awareness and honor this diverse, life-saving workforce.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

Anonymous
I'm writing this review from a mother's perspective. I love the fact that when Atara was shot and left for dead, she did not allow herself to dwell in self-pity. I respect the fact that she had did not let what happen to her keep her down, she had serious conversations with God because she knows that He is the author and finisher of her life, not man. A male (because he was not a man) did try to take her life but God said, not so, this is not her time. I have a work for her and only she can get this done. I'm very proud of how far she has come since then and I support her in all her endeavors for whatever the future holds for her. Atara, continue to do the work God has set before you, continue to give him the glory and the praise for his word says He will never leave you nor forsake you. This book is very powerful and I'm looking forward to reading your next book. Continue to do the work God has predestined for you, if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Powerful, authentic, heart-wrenching, infinitely human. Ms. Estes survives and thrives, on each page. Her realism and compassion and perseverance are super heroic. She is a blessing to her children and to her readers, including me. Thank you for the courage and generosity of sharing your story.
